Our Purpose

“Where there is no love, put love, and you will draw out love.”
St. John of the Cross, The Minor Works

 Our Purpose:

All religions have a way to mystical contemplation.  When we pray in the Spirit of the contemplative way, we pray in the specifically Christian heritage of the universal heritage of spiritual awakening.

The Contemplative Heart is formed with the intent 1) to increase awareness of the ancient, stable and holy ground of traditional Christian contemplative prayer, 2) to increase visibility of such groups that are in existence, and 3) to offer guidelines for small contemplative group formation.

When we pray, we do not begin something new; we touch the holy and stable ground of our common root.  It is in this stream of prayer that we are all more alike than we are different.  Therefore, we state: we are a Catholic Christian community.  Realizing we are all more alike than we are different, we welcome those of other faith traditions, as well as those exploring their spirituality.

“Enjoy the peace, solitude, and the delightful fruits of forgetfulness of self.”
